Lady Susan Hussey quits over remarks to charity boss Ngozi Fulani - BBC

Ngozi FulaniPA Media

The late Queen's lady-in-waiting Lady Susan Hussey has apologised and resigned after she repeatedly asked a black British charity boss where she was really from.

Ngozi Fulani, a charity founder, was questioned about her background at the charity event at the palace on Tuesday.

Ms Fulani, said she was "totally stunned" by Prince William's godmother's comments.

The palace described the remarks as "unacceptable and deeply regrettable".

A spokesperson for Prince William said "racism has no place in our society".

"The comments were unacceptable, and it is right that the individual has stepped aside with immediate effect," they said.

An eyewitness to the conversation, Mandu Reid, told BBC News that Lady Hussey's questions had been "offensive, racist and unwelcoming".

The leader of the Women's Equality Party said she had felt a "sense of incredulity" about the exchange in which Ms Fulani was interrogated about where she was from, even though she had already explained she was born and lived in the UK.

In its statement, Buckingham Palace said: "We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details.

"In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes.

"In the meantime, the individual concerned would like to express her profound apologies for the hurt caused and has stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect.

"All members of the household are being reminded of the diversity and inclusivity policies which they are required to uphold at all times."

Lady Hussey, 83, was a close confidante of the late Queen and accompanied her at the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh last year.

Ms Fulani was at the reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday representing the London-based charity Sistah Space, which supports women of African and Caribbean heritage across the UK who have faced domestic and sexual abuse.

Along with 300 guests, she had been invited to the event, where the Queen Consort, Camilla, had warned of a "global pandemic of violence against women".

But afterwards, Ms Fulani described on Twitter how the royal aide moved her hair aside to see her name badge, and then challenged her to explain where she was from.

In the post, Ms Fulani referred to the palace aide only as "Lady SH".

But Ms Reid confirmed to BBC News the person who had made the remarks was Lady Susan Hussey, having seen her name badge. Neither Buckingham Palace nor the charity named her.

BBC News has approached Lady Hussey for comment through Buckingham Palace.

Here is the full conversation, as recounted by Ms Fulani:

Lady SH: Where are you from?

Me: Sistah Space.

SH: No, where do you come from?

Me: We're based in Hackney.

SH: No, what part of Africa are you from?

Me: I don't know, they didn't leave any records.

SH: Well, you must know where you're from, I spent time in France. Where are you from?

Me: Here, the UK.

SH: No, but what nationality are you?

Me: I am born here and am British.

SH: No, but where do you really come from, where do your people come from?

Me: 'My people', lady, what is this?

SH: Oh I can see I am going to have a challenge getting you to say where you're from. When did you first come here?

Me: Lady! I am a British national, my parents came here in the 50s when...

SH: Oh, I knew we'd get there in the end, you're Caribbean!

Me: No, lady, I am of African Caribbean descent and British nationality.

SH: Oh so you're from...

Oklahoma country music artist Jake Flint died unexpectedly over the weekend, according to a social media post from his manager. Making the news even more tragic is that Flint, 37, passed away just hours after his wedding.

"With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away," Brenda Cline wrote on her Facebook page on Sunday night. "I’ve tried several times today to make a post, but you can't comment on what you can't process."

Cline remembered Flint, a Red Dirt country singer-songwriter, as the "funniest, most hilarious, hardest working, dedicated artist I have ever worked with in my career."

"We were just about to embark on some business together after he and Brenda got married - which was yesterday. Yes - yesterday," she continued. "Jake has a million friends and I'm not sure how everyone will cope with this tragic loss. We need prayers - it's all so surreal. Please please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake's precious mother, his sister and the rest of his family and friends. This is going to be incredibly difficult for so many. We love you Jake and in our hearts forever."

Flint's publicist told The Oklahoman that the up-and-coming musician died in his sleep after exchanging vows on Saturday. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

In a post on Facebook, Flint's new bride, Brenda, shared a video from their wedding day, writing, "I don't understand."

According to his website, Flint was introduced to music after his father was diagnosed with ALS. As he was not able to physically provide interaction to his son, Flint's dad enlisted his longtime friends to teach his boy how to play guitar. Flint began to attend regional bluegrass festivals and was inspired to write his own music.

Flint released four albums from 2016 through 2021: I'm Not Okay, Live and Not OK at Cain's Ballroom, Jake Flint and Live and Socially Distanced at Mercury Lounge. He frequently played shows around Oklahoma and Texas.

Fame and Flashdance singer Irene Cara dead at 63 - CBC News

Oscar, Golden Globe and two-time Grammy winning singer-actress Irene Cara, who starred and sang the title cut from the 1980 hit movie Fame and then belted out the era-defining hit Flashdance … What a Feeling from 1983's Flashdance, has died. She was 63.

Her publicist, Judith A. Moose, announced the news early Saturday on social media, writing that a cause of death was "currently unknown." Moose said Cara died at her home in Florida. The exact day of her death was not disclosed.

"Irene's family has requested privacy as they process their grief," Moose wrote. "She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live forever through her music and films."

During her career, Cara had three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including BreakdanceOut Here On My OwnFame and Flashdance … What A Feeling, which spent six weeks at No. 1. She was behind some of the most joyful, high-energy pop anthems of the early '80s.

She first came to prominence among the young actors playing performing arts high schoolers in Alan Parker's Fame, with co-stars Debbie Allen, Paul McCrane and Anne Mear.

Allen took to Twitter Saturday to mourn, posting pictures of them together and calling Cara "a gifted and beautiful genius. Her talent and her music will live forever!"

In Fame, Cara played Coco Hernandez, a striving dancer who endures all manner of deprivations, including a creepy nude photo shoot.

"How bright our spirits go shooting out into space, depends on how much we contributed to the earthly brilliance of this world. And I mean to be a major contributor!" she says in the movie.

Cara sang on the soaring title song with the chorus — "Remember my name/I'm gonna live forever/I'm gonna learn how to fly/I feel it coming together/People will see me and cry" — which would go on to be nominated for an Academy Award for best original song. She also sang on Out Here on My OwnHot Lunch Jam and I Sing the Body Electric.Oscar for best original song

Three years later, she and the songwriting team of Flashdance — music by Giorgio Moroder, lyrics by Keith Forsey and Cara — were accepting the Academy Award for best original song for Flashdance ... What a Feeling.

The movie starred Jennifer Beals as a steel-town girl who dances in a bar at night and hopes to attend a prestigious dance conservatory. It included the hit song Maniac, featuring Beals' character leaping, spinning, stomping her feet and the slow-burning theme song.

"There aren't enough words to express my love and my gratitude," Cara told the Oscar crowd in her thanks. "And last but not least, a very special gentlemen who I guess started it all for me many years ago. To Alan Parker, wherever you may be tonight, I thank him."

The New York-born Cara began her career on Broadway, with small parts in short-lived shows, although a musical called The Me Nobody Knows ran over 300 performances. She toured in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar as Mary Magdalene in the mid-1990s and for the musical Flashdance she toured from 2012-2014 with her songs.

She also created the all-female band Irene Cara Presents Hot Caramel and put out a double CD with the single How Can I Make You Luv Me. Her movie credits include Sparkle and D.C. Cab.

Kris Wu: Chinese-Canadian singer jailed to 13 years for sex crimes - BBC

Chinese singer-actor Kris WuGetty Images

Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu has been jailed for 13 years after being found guilty of sex crimes.

A court in Beijing convicted the 32-year-old singer and actor of raping three women and assembling a crowd to engage in an orgy.

He was arrested last year after being accused of date-rape by a student, before 24 more victims spoke out.

The court said he would be deported - although deportations in China usually take place after sentences are served.

Beijing's Chaoyang district court said on Friday that Wu would serve 11 years and six months for raping three women at his home in 2020 "when they were drunk and did not know or not able to resist".

He also received a sentence of one year and 10 months for "gathering people to commit adultery", the court added.

The first to accuse him was student Du Meizhu, who last year posted on social media that she had met Mr Wu two years earlier, when she was 17.

She said she had been invited to a party at his home, where she was pressured to drink alcohol and woke up in his bed the next day.

Mr Wu denied the claims, but at least 24 more victims accusing him of predatory behaviour. He was accused of inviting women to alcohol-fuelled karaoke parties.

The singer also faces a 600m yuan (£69m) tax evasion fine. State news agency Xinhua said he used a fictitious business to make false declarations about his worldwide income.

Mr Wu, who was born in China but has Canadian nationality, shot to fame as a member of the K-pop boyband EXO in the 2010s.

He became one of China's biggest celebrities after carving a solo career as a singer, actor, model and variety show judge.

However, brands including Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, L'Oreal Men and Porsche have suspended their partnerships with Mr Wu over the case.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL: Check Out A Funny Clip Ahead Of Tomorrow's Premiere - CBM (Comic Book Movie)

It's almost time to gather the family together for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but if you're after one more little teaser before tomorrow's premiere, Marvel Studios has debuted a brief sneak peek featuring the "legendary hero" known as Kevin Bacon.

The clip takes place shortly after Drax and Mantis have managed to "convince" the Footloose actor to accompany them to Knowhere as a Christmas present for Star-Lord. Thanks to Mantis' persuasive ways, Bacon is feeling pretty good about the whole thing... much to Drax's annoyance.

Unfortunately, the well-meaning but misguided Guardians have already discovered that Bacon is an actor at this point, which hasn't exactly endeared him to his intergalactic kidnappers!

Check out the new clip in the player below.

In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the Guardians, who are on a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, head to Earth in search of the perfect present. The Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn and The Old 97’s with Michael Rooker and Kevin Bacon.

James Gunn wrote and directed The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Gunn, Sara Smith and Simon Hatt, with David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther serving as co-producers.

The second "Special Presentation" is set to hit Disney+ on November 25.

Netflix 'The Swimmers' follows refugee Yusra Mardini's path to the Olympics while trying to 'cling' to normality - Yahoo News Canada

Yusra Mardini made headlines in 2016 when she competed in the Rio Olympics for the Refugee Olympic Team (ROT), and now filmmaker Sally El Hosaini is telling the story of how Mardini and her sister Sarah fled war-torn Syria for a new life in Germany in the movie The Swimmers (on Netflix Nov. 23).

“In Yusra and Sarah’s relationship and story, this isn't just about one hero, an underdog making it to the Olympics,” El Hosaini told Yahoo Canada about what compelled her to tell this story. “There's also the unsung hero in Sarah, that unsung hero in Sarah that is most powerful because when one is strong, the other’s weak.”

“I found their relationship so inspiring, how they supported each other and how they helped each other get through those really difficult times. But more than anything, I love their sense of humour and who they are as people.”

The Swimmers (which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival) begins with Yusra and Sarah, played by sisters Nathalie Issa and Manal Issa, living in the suburb of Darayya in Damascus and being coached in competitive swimming by their father Ezzat (Ali Suliman). Yusra has a specific dream to compete in the Olympics one day, but by 2015, the civil war in Syria made her goal seem impossible. The two girls convinced their father to let them take the journey for asylum in Germany, which he eventually agrees to after bombs explode at Yusra’s swimming competition.

Yusra and Sarah are joined by their cousin Nizar (Ahmed Malek), with €10,000, and start off on this journey, from a flight to Istanbul to the coast near Ayvalik in Turkey, swimming to Lesbos, eventually ending up in Macedonia, Hungary and then Germany.

'We were still trying to cling to this normality'

While Sally El Hosaini creates some heartbreaking moments in the film, based on real-life events, what makes The Swimmers particularly unique is the way it balances the hardship of the civil war with the humanity of its characters and the humorous, vibrant personalities of Yusra and Sarah.

“To show the light in the darkness, to really show the capacity of the human spirit to survive in the toughest of circumstances, nothing's ever black and white,” El Hosaini said. “Comedy’s connected to tragedy, pain and laughter are so connected, the hardest times in my own life, I've got through with humour.”

Yusra Mardini highlighted that she particularly enjoyed watching the scenes of her going clubbing and dancing with her sister.

“It was really, really incredible to watch the movie for the first time with my sister, we both were crying, laughing and just enjoying those moments, being reminded of our relationship and how it is,” Mardini told Yahoo Canada. “One of my favourite scenes is going to the club because it shows something that is not shown very often, to be honest, in the news when they show Syria, when they show the Arabic world, areas that are affected are…always grey or destroyed.”

So to me, it was very, very important to show people that yes, there's struggle, yes there is war, but we were still trying to cling to this normality, to being teenagers to just having a normal life as well. Unfortunately, we were dancing while there were bomb attacks and so on, but that was the sad reality in Syria. Life goes on and that was very important to show in the movie, that there are…people trying to have a normal life, to be honest.Yusra Mardini, Actress, 'The Swimmers'

To make things as authentic as possible, El Hosaini even asked for Mardini’s input for the music in the film.

“I love the music, I love Sia,” Mardini said. “Sally asked us about our playlists and she asked me, what is the most inspiring music to you? And I told her Sia immediately and in my playlist, there was 'Titanium' and 'Unstoppable,' and they both are in the movie.”

'I learned that refugees are ordinary people'

When Yusra and Sarah Mardini make it to Germany in The Swimmers they meet coach Sven, played by Matthias Schweighöfer, who Yusra persuades to let her train with him, after promising to be impressive in the pool. He was also instrumental in ensuring Yusra and Sarah had training clothes and equipment, and secured a bunk room for them outside of the refugee shelter.

“The first time I met him at the pool, he showed me around where the sisters lived and he showed me videos on his phone,” Schweighöfer said. “They went crazy on these videos, and they were dancing and they were training.”

“I asked Sven,...'What do you want me to do? What's your wish?’ And he said, Matthias don't make me look bad and let's help Yusra and Sarah tell the story, and make this film happen.”

For the actor, Schweighöfer revealed that through the process of working on The Swimmers he learned more about the humanity of refugees and the refugee experience, through the Mardini sisters.

“I learned that refugees are ordinary people and I think Yusra is so inspiring, because she's a very strong, powerful woman with a big dream, big hopes and dreams,” Schweighöfer said. “It's always nice to be with her or surrounded by her because she's so strong and so funny and she has a great sense of humour.”

Bones and All is a love story not a cannibal story, says director - RadioTimes

Luca Guadagnino's new film Bones and All might revolve around a young couple who eat human flesh – but according to the Call Me By Your Name director, it should be seen first and foremost as a love story and not a cannibal story.

"[The audience] should hear first 'love story'," he said during an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com. "They should hear first like a fable, like a dark fable about trying to thrive with love."

Even if it is primarily a love story, it is Guadagnino's second film in a row – following his remake of Dario Argento's Giallo classic Suspiria – which could be described as horror-inflected.

But asked if that was a deliberate choice, the director explained that he wasn't really thinking about genre while he was making the film.

"Life is so unpredictable," he said. "And I decided since I couldn't control the flow of life to surrender to it. And I was basically not planning on making... I wasn't planning on making this movie.

"And this movie came to me and when I read the script I didn't read it as a horror movie, I read it as a beautiful love story between two kids who are disenfranchised and burdened by a kind of nature that they cannot escape somehow.

"That's how I deciphered the book, the script. Yes, they're cannibals and yes, this must come across through the movie with darkness. But I wasn't really thinking in terms of genre."

The film – which reunites Guadagnino with Call Me By Your Name star TimothĂ©e Chalamet – is the Italian director's first to be shot and set in the USA, unfolding in the late 1980s.

But he said that he didn't necessarily want it to come across like a film that was made by an outsider offering a fresh perspective on America.

"I try to resist that," he said. "Because I don't like when a non-American goes to America and sees it from the point of view of a sort of grotesque vernacular, that can make America a sort of simplification of the country through the idea of the types that makes America, or what we believe are the neuroses of America.

"I'm more humanistic in that I think we have to stay there, immerse ourselves there and be at the height of the place and the people that are described in the movie. I tried to follow the lessons of people like Fritz Lang or Billy Wilder who went from Europe to America to make movies – and they belonged."

Bones and All is released in UK cinemas on 23rd November 2022. Check out our TV Guide or Streaming Guide, or visit our Film hub for more news and features.

Wilko Johnson, legendary guitarist and Game of Thrones star, dies aged 75 - RadioTimes

Wilko Johnson, the influential guitarist, singer and songwriter who was also known for starring in Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 75.

The news was confirmed on his social media, with a post saying: "This is the announcement we never wanted to make, & we do so with a very heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died. He passed away at home on Monday 21st November.

"Thank you for respecting the family's privacy at this very sad time. RIP Wilko Johnson."

Johnson was best known as a member of the rhythm and blues group Dr. Feelgood in the 1970s, with whom he had a profound influence on the foundations of punk.

In the latter years of his career, he also turned his hand to acting, playing executioner Ser Ilyn Payne in seasons 1 and 2 of Game of Thrones.

In 2013, Johnson was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, with doctors predicting he had 10 months to live.

However, in 2014 he announced he was free from cancer, telling BBC News he had undergone an 11-hour operation to remove a tumour which "weighed 3kg".

"Anyway, they got it all. They cured me," he said.

The guitarist said he had spent a year "calmly accepting the idea that I was going to die", adding: "I decided that was the way to deal with it – not to curse it or fight it or anything like that. Just try and enjoy the time left, which I'd done.

"In order to do that, you have to accept, yes you're going to die, which in itself was quite an experience because it gives you a whole different way of looking at things.

"And then for someone to come up and say 'We can fix it'... When they first said they could operate, I was thinking, 'What are they saying? They may be offering me two or three more months life?'

"But no they weren't, they were saying they could get rid of the tumour, and that's what they did. And it's gone. And I don't have cancer."

Florence Pugh has wowed in a sheer white and gold gown to attend a star-studded event in Hollywood.

The actress, 26, wore a Victoria Beckham dress to the 13th Annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Her striking floor-length, scoop-necked ensemble featured metallic fringing, as well as carefully-placed fabric that fell to a subtle train.

She finished off her look for the event – which saw Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lawrence and Cate Blanchett also in attendance – with white heels, slicked-back hair, glowy make-up and a statement gold necklace.

The stylish gown comes after the Oscar-winning star stepped out in a number of see-through dresses over the past few months.

Her first, a pink nipple-baring Valentino look for the luxury fashion brand's Rome couture show in July, sparked much discussion.

It lead to Pugh having to defend the outfit on Instagram, where she wrote: "Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it.

"What’s been interesting to watch and witness is just how easy it is for men to totally destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see.

"What’s more concerning is... Why are you so scared of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? Only one? Maybe none?" she added. "What. Is. So. Terrifying."

Despite the criticism, the actress boldly opted for a sheer Valentino crop top and matching skirt during Paris Fashion Week last month.

Brendan Fraser on his meaningful reunion with Leonardo DiCaprio on Killers of the Flower Moon - JoBlo.com

Brendan Fraser, Leonardo DiCaprio, Killers of the Flower Moon

It’s been great to see Brendan Fraser return to our screens, and one of the actor’s upcoming projects finds him starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. While the pair haven’t actually worked together before, their reunion on set was a special one for Fraser.

While speaking with GQ, Brendan Fraser spoke of reuniting with Leonardo DiCaprio on Killers of the Flower Moon decades after their first brief encounter. Fraser had seen a screening of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape on the Paramount lot and wanted DiCaprio to know how great he was in the movie.

When he was I think probably all of, I don’t know, 17, 16 maybe, he did Gilbert Grape. I saw it on the Paramount lot. I think I had just been in School Ties or something then, and I was, like, flummoxed but I just wanted to tell him, Hear, hear. That was incredible.

When they reunited on the set of Killers of the Flower Moon, Brendan Fraser said that Leonardo DiCaprio remembered their first meeting all those years ago. “He repeated that to me,” Fraser said. “He remembered me. He said: You were the only guy who didn’t treat me like a little kid. He volunteered that to me. That was meaningful.” Fraser is playing a defence lawyer in the movie, which also stars Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, and more.

Based on David Grann’s best-selling crime thriller, Killers of the Flower Moon will tell the true-life mystery tale of the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma in the 1920s who became quite wealthy after oil was discovered beneath their land. Then, one by one, the Osage began to be killed off, and the ensuing spiral of conspiracy, greed and murder got so bad that the FBI had to step in. The movie was once expected to be released in time for Oscar season this year but was pushed back to 2023, with a debut at the Cannes Film Festival a possibility. Brendan Fraser will next be seen in The Whale, which will hit theaters on December 9th.

TAURUS (April 21 - May 21):

You may be tempted to tell friends and family members what they want to hear today but if you do they won’t be able to see where they have been making mistakes. Be honest with them, even if you know they won’t thank you for it.

GEMINI (May 22 - June 21):

If you have fallen out with someone over the past few weeks then the entry of Mercury, your ruler, into the partnership area of your chart today will help you patch things up. You will know just what to say to put recent misunderstandings behind you.

CANCER (June 22 - July 23):

The more others tell you that you need to work harder and move faster today the more you must do the opposite. They don’t want you doing more for your own benefit, they want you doing more because it helps them. Don’t fall for it.

LEO (July 24 - Aug. 23):

Don’t waste your precious time on activities that mean nothing to you personally and on people who will never be true friends. Be ruthless and let them know you will be going your own way and doing your own thing today – and they’re not invited.

VIRGO (Aug. 24 - Sept. 23):

Like it or not you will have to back down in some sort of dispute over the next 24 hours. You may be in the right but those you are arguing with have the power to make life uncomfortable for you, so let them win … for now.

LIBRA (Sept. 24 - Oct. 23):

With both Venus and Mercury now moving through the most outgoing area of your chart you won’t let anyone hold you back. You are determined to go your own way and do your own thing and those who try to stop you are sure to regret it!

SCORPIO (Oct. 24 - Nov. 22):

It is of the utmost importance that you stay calm and approach life with a positive outlook today. As the comic picture begins to change so challenges of one stripe or another are sure to arise, but you have what it takes to be on the winning side.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23 - Dec. 21):

Identify what matters most to you today and focus on that one thing to the exclusion of everything else. With Mercury moving into your sign you will know without a shadow of a doubt what needs to be done. More importantly, you will get on and do it.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 - Jan. 20):

Cosmic activity in the most sensitive area of your chart is beginning to build, so you will probably be more subdued than usual. That’s actually no bad thing as it will do you good to take stock of your life. Thought is just as important as action.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 - Feb. 19):

You have never been afraid to speak your mind and between now and the weekend everyone around you is going to know exactly what you think and why you think it. They may not like what you have to say but they will respect your right to say it.

PISCES (Feb. 20 - Mar. 20):

Cosmic activity in the career area of your chart makes this the perfect time to approach your employers and let them know you are in the market for something better. Make sure you drive a hard bargain – talent like yours deserves to be paid top dollar.

Marvel Comics Knows Swifties' Ticketmaster Plight All Too Well, Offers a Perfect Taylor Swift Fancast - We Got This Covered

It’s been quite a day for Taylor Swift fans as they come up empty-handed in their efforts to buy presale tickets to the singer’s sixth tour, The Eras Tour, which opened today to “Verified Fans” and will open to the masses on Nov. 18. The blame has fully fallen on the shoulders of Ticketmaster for its long virtual queues, site crashes, and overall inability to support artists of Swift’s level. The result has been a public meltdown from Swifties who just want to buy concert tickets for goodness’ sake, and everyone has become aware of the madness, even Marvel.

Tweeting in on the fun, Marvel Unlimited posted a photo of the superhero singer and X-Man Dazzler with the caption “but what if i’m a verified fan with the x-gene” and boy, is there stuff to unpack there.

First of all, a Verified Fan is Ticketmaster’s (failed) attempt to give concert-goers a chance to join a presale waitlist and buy tickets ahead of the the masses. The effort has largely tanked since news of Swift’s The Eras Tour was officially announced on Nov. 1, resulting in the fandom calling on the Department of Justice to tear Ticketmaster down for being a monopoly and simultaneously sucking at it.

Marvel is clearly poking fun at the Swiftie community for their public temper tantrum, and we’re not sure anyone is really hoping that Taylor Swift join the MCU as Dazzler, but hey, what about just Dazzler? The singer-slash-superhero is able to absorb and convert sonic energy and sound waves into a number of effects such as photon blasts, lasers, blinding flashes, holograms, and more. She would be a fun addition to the MCU and among the number of new superheroes Marvel has introduced over the course of phase four. Plus, it would coincide with what just might be a huge Marvel-related announcement from Jessica Chastain tomorrow.

Then again, we could just be getting our hopes up. It’s not the first time Marvel has played into the hand of Taylor Swift fans. The day the singer’s tenth studio album Midnights dropped, Marvel Unlimited posted a photo of Loki, Moon Knight, and Bucky Barnes with a caption referencing her new hit song “Anti-Hero.”

The real possibility here is that whoever oversees Marvel Unlimited’s Twitter account is secretly a Swiftie. Whoever they are, give them a raise.
