Juno Awards 2022: Full list of winners - CBC News

The 2022 Juno Awards kicked off on Sunday in Toronto with whirlwind performances by Hamilton rockers Arkells and Regina-born Tesher.

Tesher's hit Jalebi Baby even had a cameo by Junos host Simu Liu.

The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star opened with a very Canadian monologue, celebrating his hometown of Toronto. The show was back in person, following a period off during the pandemic, for the first time since 2019. For 2022, it was held outdoors at the Budweiser Stage.

Later, Shawn Mendes, originally from Pickering, Ont., was honoured with the International Achievement Award. He also won the TikTok Juno fan choice award that was announced by Avril Lavigne.

B.C.'s Jessia won breakthrough artist of the year, and Montreal's Charlotte Cardin, coming off three awards Saturday night, took the honour for album of the year Sunday.

The 51st Junos also featured performances by Lavigne and Cardin. The night included special presentations for both Mendes and Deborah Cox.

Cox accepted her honour by talking about the hardships getting into the ears of Canada's music industry executives in the '90s and as a Black woman from Scarborough, in suburban Toronto.
