The Harry Potter reunion will premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, but don’t expect to see J.K. Rowling alongside the cast and crew of the film franchise.
We already learned that the Harry Potter author would not be in attendance at the reunion, but now we know why.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Rowling was indeed invited to attend the reunion, “but her team determined the archived comments from the writer were adequate.” The source added that “Rowling’s statements about trans people and the controversy swirling around them did not play a part in the team’s decision.”
Over the summer, Rowling talked about the “hundreds” of threats she has received from trans activists.
