Disney Confirms Theatrical Only Plans - Dark Horizons

Marvel Eternals Release Plans Still Fluid

In the wake of the success of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Disney has confirmed that three remaining movies of its 2021 slate will be theatrical only launches.

Both Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” are slated for 45-day exclusive windows in cinemas, while the animated “Encanto” will get a 30-day exclusive window. Disney’s three Fox titles “The Last Duel,” “The King’s Man” and “Ron’s Gone Wrong” will also follow the 45-day pattern.

Meanwhile, Guillermo del Toro’s dark thriller “Nightmare Alley,” was originally set for a limited release on December 3rd and is now slated for a wide release on December 17th.

Further release dates were also announced with the “Bob’s Burgers” movie opening May 27th 2022, David O. Russell’s untitled movie set for November 4th 2022, and Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” has scored a May 26th 2023 opening.

Several other mystery titles were announced with Marvel marking out its 2024 release dates for four unknown titles at this time – February 16th, May 3rd, July 26th, November 8th.

Pixar will have two 2024 releases on March 1st and June 14th, while two live-action films will arrive in 2024 on March 22nd and July 5th.
