If you have a spare room in Huntsville, the tenant of a lifetime is looking for a place to stay.
Actor John Cleese, of Monty Python fame, tweeted Monday that he was in need of a rental while he’s working on his latest movie.
“Does anyone in Huntsville, Ontario have a nice place I can rent to live in while I make a film,” the actor wrote on Twitter. “Airbnb took our money but now say they’ve given our house to someone else
(Why did they take the money, then ?)”
Ontarians were quick to offer up their homes and cottages — and the homes of friends and family — to the stranded actor. Cleese later tweeted his thanks for the “helpful suggestions” and said he’d be following up.
In a reply to Cleese’s tweet, Airbnb’s customer support account requested a direct message from him with more information about the situation.
A spokesperson for Airbnb told the Star that the company has reached out to Cleese’s team for clarity on his issue, but stated they have not yet heard back. “Our Community Support Team reached out to Mr. Cleese on Twitter to gather more info, and we also attempted to contact his representatives but have not yet heard back,” the spokesperson said.
