Former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart has reportedly agreed to represent Britney Spears in her conservatorship case if she is given permission to pick her own lawyers.
Sources close to the ongoing legal spat claim Britney wants to hire Greenberg Traurig, LLP to represent her following the departure of court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham earlier this month, and partner Rosengart will appear in court today, arguing his potential new client has every right to pick her legal team - and he wants to be appointed.
He has a history of representing celebrities, having previously worked for Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, and Sean Penn.
According to TMZ, Rosengart will argue that Britney has a Constitutional right to the lawyer of her choice.
At present, due to the terms of her conservatorship, the singer cannot sign contracts of any substance without the approval of her father, Jamie Spears, who she is keen to dismiss as her conservator.
If appointed, Rosengart will fight to end the conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008.
