Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins boasts an international cast to bring the 1980s action figures to life. While there have been two previous G.I. Joe movies, 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2012's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Snake Eyes reboots the G.I. Joe film series while also telling a revamped origin of the popular silent ninja warrior.
In Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, fans will learn how the eponymous commando joined the Arashikage clan, an ancient sect of ninja warriors who have been protecting the world for 600 years. The Arashikage clan becomes threatened by the global terrorist organization known as Cobra, and in this rebooted continuity, the G.I. Joe team and Cobra already exist as rival entities. While only a handful of classic G.I. Joe characters will appear in Snake Eyes, the film will reveal heretofore unknown details about the quiet commando's origins and how he became blood brothers with Storm Shadow.
Snake Eyes was played by Ray Parks in the previous G.I. Joe movies, and the ninja action involving Storm Shadow was arguably the best part of the prior films. However, Snake Eyes hopes to kick off a brand new G.I. Joe movie franchise if it's successful at the box office, and the filmmakers hope that starting the new saga with the most popular G.I. Joe characters will lead to success. Here's who's who in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.
Henry Golding As Snake Eyes
Henry Golding plays the titular black-clad ninja warrior, who is traditionally silent in G.I. Joe because of an accident that left him deformed and without speech. Since Snake Eyes is his rebooted origin story, fans will see a new version of how Snake Eyes learned his fighting skills with the Arashikage clan, his friendship turned rivalry with Storm Shadow, and how he becomes part of the G.I. Joe team. Golding is best known for starring in Crazy Rich Asians and Last Christmas.
Andrew Koji As Storm Shadow
Andrew Koji steps into the role of Thomas "Tommy" Arashikage AKA Storm Shadow, the yin to Snake Eyes' yang. Tommy is Snake Eyes' best friend who indoctrinates him into his family's ninja clan, but the two are destined to be enemies on opposite sides of the G.I. Joe and Cobra conflict. Koji is best known for starring in Warrior and has appeared in Peaky Blinders and American Gods.
Samara Weaving As Scarlett
Samara Weaving plays Scarlett, aka Shana M. O'Hara, one of the original members of the G.I. Joe team. In Snake Eyes, Scarlett is both a Joe and has ties to Clan Arashikage, and she enters the story to combat the involvement of Cobra. Weaving is best known for starring in Ready or Not and Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Úrsula Corberó As The Baronness
Úrsula Corberó plays The Baroness, AKA Anastasia DeCobray, in the original G.I. Joe comics and animated series. Baroness is an elite Cobra operative and intelligence officer who is executing a mission on behalf of Cobra, and she has a shared past with Scarlett. Corberó is a Spanish actress best known for starring in Money Heist.
