‘AWKWARD’: Meghan prepares for Royal Family reunion at Lilibet’s christening - Toronto Sun

Just because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California doesn’t mean that’s where they’re going to have daughter Lilibet’s christening.

It’s believed that like her big brother, Archie, Lili will be christened in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

If that happens, get ready to break out the popcorn because some royal insiders are expecting fireworks. Or, at the very least, perhaps a haughty dressing-down fit for the woman who took away everyone’s favourite Royal and is one half of a couple who (further?) tarnished the Royal Family’s reputation.

“It will be definitely awkward,” the Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers told Today.

“Meghan isn’t flavour of the month with the family,” he continued. “Certainly, the family has always said they will be much-loved members of the family. However, we’re still talking about the fallout of the Oprah Winfrey interview, Emmy or no Emmy nomination.”

He added: “The tensions are still running very, very high within the family, indeed.”

Myers suggested that a christening in the U.K. is Meghan and Harry’s attempt to stay royally connected.

“Looking at the details, it looks as though they do want some continuity for their family life,” he said. “They definitely want to keep their royal connection and this will be a sure-fire way to make sure everyone is talking about them in the royal way.”

It’s not known how much virtual or phone contact the Sussexes have had with the Royal Family. In person, however, it can be counted on one hand.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Harry has already reunited with his family. First, in April, when he attended grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral. Then again earlier this month at the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace.

Meghan has yet to return since they left for America and barely glanced back – but that doesn’t mean it’s not a possibility.

Royal historian Marlene Koenig suggested that celebrating Lili’s christening on royal turf would show some “goodwill” on Harry and Meghan’s part in an attempt to heal the rift between them and the rest of the family.

Adblock test (Why?)
