Quebec has recorded 1,754 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths, the provincial government announced this morning. That’s the highest number of cases since Jan. 21. Of those cases, 428 were in Montreal, where two deaths were recorded.
There have now been 324,848 people infected with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, including 12,371 active cases. A total of 301,740 people have recovered, an increase of 1,269.
The death toll in the province has reached 10,737.
A total of 15,445 variant cases have been identified, an increase of 1,237, with the number of confirmed cases remaining at 1,598.

A total of 2,429,695 doses have been received in total. Quebec received 71,600 doses of AstraZeneca on Friday. Those doses and 179,66 received earlier will be directed to health services starting today and through next week.
Hospitalizations increased by 14 since Friday, reaching 583, their highest point in a month. There are 138 people in intensive care, an increase of four.
In addition, 13 new deaths were reported, including two over the previous 24 hours. Among the other deaths, eight occurred between April 3 and 8, and one occurred at an unknown date.
There were 44,431 tests conducted on April 8.
