Tristan Thompson Expecting Baby Boy With Personal Trainer After Starting Fling While Reportedly Dating Khlo... - PerezHilton.com

Tristan Thompson is days — or even hours — away from becoming a father for the third time as the result of an alleged fling he had with a woman back in March of this year.

The NBA star is allegedly the father of personal trainer and Houston native Maralee Nichols‘ baby-to-be, according to a damning new report published Friday by DailyMail.com.

Per that outlet, Nichols is now suing the Sacramento Kings star for support. The 31-year-old personal trainer is seeking financial damages from Khloé Kardashian‘s ex-partner for pregnancy-related medical expenses, including a doula, pre-natal vitamins, and other baby-related needs.

In court documents filed for the suit, both Thompson and Nichols confirm that the pair enjoyed a night together back in March as part of Tristan’s birthday celebration in the south Texas city. This paternity suit is just coming to light, but isn’t new — papers show that Nichols launched this suit back on June 30 in Los Angeles, shortly after moving to the city from Texas.

The filing came days after Tristan posted his own gushing social media message for Khloé’s birthday, calling her his “best friend.” Of course, the pair had publicly split by the filing date, but back in March when the pregnancy was reportedly initiated… yeah, if we only knew then…

In the court filing, the basketball star claims that the night in question was the only time he slept with Nichols. She alleges a far different story, claiming their affair began “at least five months” before the aforementioned 30th birthday celebrations, with the personal trainer traveling to California to see Tristan several times, even after she got pregnant.

In the legal filing first obtained by the outlet, Thompson claims Nichols was the one who drove him to his birthday celebration in her Maserati sports car before the duo returned to his hotel room to enjoy “a special birthday surprise.”

Knowing that surprise would be sex, Tristan claimed (below):

“When we got to my hotel room, we immediately had sexual intercourse. Petitioner [Nichols] initiated our sexual contact and never objected to our having sexual intercourse. She was very awake and conscious and did not exhibit any signs that she was other than a willing participant in our sexual activities. We did not drink at my hotel room and Petitioner was not drunk.”

And Tristan continued:

“After we had sexual intercourse, Petitioner specifically asked me if she could spend the night because it was my ‘special birthday’ as she called it. I told her I had to get up early in the morning but she said it would not be an issue for her. After we had sexual intercourse, we went to bed. We were both naked sleeping with one another. Before I left the hotel, we had sexual intercourse again in the morning.”

Wow.

As Perezcious readers will no doubt recall, Khloé posted a sweet message about Tristan celebrating this very same birthday back in March — evidently at the same time he was allegedly involved in this fling.

Of course, Tristan and Khloé have long been discussing plans for possibly having another kid to raise alongside 3-year-old daughter True Thompson. That decision hit a major road bump right around when this late June paternity suit was filed when Khloé and Tristan officially split. Of course, they’ll still be involved in each other’s lives considering they share True between them.

But today’s news… this is just… WOW.

Reactions, Perezcious readers?

Duchess of Sussex letter lawsuit: Meghan wins her appeal - CTV News

LONDON -- The Duchess of Sussex on Thursday won the latest stage in her long-running privacy lawsuit against a British newspaper publisher over its publication of parts of a letter she wrote to her estranged father.

The Court of Appeal in London upheld a High Court ruling that the publisher of The Mail on Sunday and MailOnline website unlawfully breached the former Meghan Markle's privacy by reproducing a large chunk of the handwritten letter she sent her father, Thomas Markle, after she married Prince Harry in 2018.

Associated Newspapers challenged the decision at the Court of Appeal, which held a hearing last month. Dismissing the appeal, senior judge Geoffrey Vos told the court Thursday that "the Duchess had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the contents of the letter. Those contents were personal, private and not matters of legitimate public interest."

The publisher said it was "very disappointed" and was considering an appeal to the U.K. Supreme Court.

In a statement, Meghan, 40, condemned the publisher for treating the lawsuit as "a game with no rules" and said the ruling was "a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right."

"What matters most is that we are now collectively brave enough to reshape a tabloid industry that conditions people to be cruel, and profits from the lies and pain that they create," she said.

Associated Newspapers published about half of the letter in five articles in August 2018. Their lawyers disputed Meghan's claim that she didn't intend the letter to be seen by anyone but her father.

They said correspondence between Meghan and her then-communications secretary, Jason Knauf, showed the duchess suspected her father might leak the letter to journalists and wrote it with that in mind.

The publisher also argued that the publication of the letter was part of Thomas Markle's right to reply following a People magazine interview with five of Meghan's friends alleging he was "cruelly cold-shouldering" his daughter in the run-up to her royal wedding.

But Vos said that the article, which the Mail on Sunday described as "sensational," was "splashed as a new public revelation" rather than focusing on Thomas Markle's response to negative media reports about him.

In their appeal, Associated Newspapers had also argued that Meghan made private information public by cooperating with Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of "Finding Freedom," a sympathetic book about her and Harry.

The duchess' lawyers had previously denied that she or Harry collaborated with the authors. But Knauf said in evidence to the court that he gave the writers information, and discussed it with Harry and Meghan.

Knauf's evidence, which hadn't previously been disclosed, was a dramatic twist in the long-running case.

In response, Meghan apologized for misleading the court about the extent of her cooperation with the book's authors.

The duchess said she didn't remember the discussions with Knauf when she gave evidence earlier in the case, and said she had "absolutely no wish or intention to mislead the defendant or the court."

Meghan, a former star of the American TV legal drama "Suits," married Harry, a grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

Meghan and Harry announced in early 2020 that they were quitting royal duties and moving to North America, citing what they said were the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media. They have settled in Santa Barbara, California, with their two young children.

In her statement Thursday, Meghan said she had been subject to "deception, intimidation and calculated attacks" in the three years since the lawsuit began.

"The longer they dragged it out, the more they could twist facts and manipulate the public (even during the appeal itself), making a straightforward case extraordinarily convoluted in order to generate more headlines and sell more newspapers -- a model that rewards chaos above truth," she said.

Associated Newspapers had argued the case should go to a trial on Meghan's claims against the publisher.

Associated Newspapers said in a statement Thursday that it believed "judgment should be given only on the basis of evidence tested at trial," especially since "Mr. Knauf's evidence raises issues as to the Duchess's credibility. "

Lawyer Mark Stephens, who specializes in media law and is not connected to the case, said he believed the publisher will appeal, though it would be unusual for Britain's Supreme Court to take such a case. He said the publisher could also try to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

"There's an issue of principle here, which is whether this case should be finished before a trial without disclosure, without testing the evidence," Stephens said. The ruling did not settle questions about whether the letter to Thomas Markle was "always intended for Meghan's side to publish and to leak and to use as briefing material," he added.

Associated Newspapers "have a right to this trial, and I think that that is just going to protract the pain for Meghan Markle," Stephens said.

Jacqueline Avant, wife of music legend, killed in shooting - CP24 Toronto's Breaking News

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Jacqueline Avant, a Los Angeles philanthropist and the wife of legendary music executive Clarence Avant, was fatally shot at their home in Beverly Hills, California, early Wednesday, police said.

Police and paramedics arrived at the home after a 2:23 a.m. call to find Jacqueline Avant, 81, with a gunshot wound, Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook said at an afternoon news conference. She was taken to a hospital, but did not survive.

The suspect or suspects were gone when police arrived. No one has been arrested and the motive remains unclear, Stainbrook said. Nothing was stolen from the house, and no one else was injured.

“Someone went into the home, we don't know the purpose behind it,” the chief said. “I don't think it's a random attack but I can't speculate on that.”

Jacqueline Avant was a longtime local philanthropist who led organizations that helped low-income neighborhoods including Watts and South Los Angeles, and was on the board of directors of the International Student Center at the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Avants' daughter, Nicole Avant, is a film producer and former U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas and is married to Netflix co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

“The entire family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love, support and condolences for Jacqueline Yvonne. Jacqueline was an amazing woman, wife, mother, philanthropist, and a 55 year resident of Beverly Hills, who has made an immeasurable positive contribution and impact on the arts community,” the Avant and Sarandos families said in a statement. “She will be missed by her family, friends and all of the people she has helped throughout her amazing life.”

Former President Bill Clinton also paid her tribute.

“Jackie Avant was a wonderful woman, a great partner to Clarence and mother to Alex and Nicole, an active citizen & a dear friend to Hillary and me for 30 years,” Clinton said on Twitter. “She inspired admiration, respect & affection in everyone who knew her. We are heartbroken. She will be deeply missed.”

Grammy-winning executive Clarence Avant is known as the “Godfather of Black Music” and was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The 90-year-old was also a concert promoter and manager who mentored and helped the careers of artists including Bill Withers, Little Willie John, L.A. Reid, Babyface, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

He founded Sussex Records and Tabu Records in the 1960s and 1970s, and was chair of Motown Records in the 1990s.

The Avants were married in 1967. They also have a son, Alexander Du Bois Avant.

Nicole Avant produced a Netflix documentary about her father, 2019's “The Black Godfather.” In an interview with NBC News about the film, she talked about her mother's role in the family.

“My mom is really the one who brought to my father and our family the love and passion and importance of the arts and culture and entertainment,” she said. “While my father was in it, making all the deals, my mother was the one who gave me, for example, my love of literature, my love of filmmaking, my love of storytelling.”

TMZ first reported Jacqueline Avant's death.

Stainbrook, who is in his first week as chief, said no one else was injured in the shooting. A security guard was at the home. He would not further describe the interaction between the shooter and Jacqueline Avant.

“I want to reassure the Beverly Hills community that the city remains safe, and one of the safest in the nation,” the chief said.

Basketball icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson wrote on Twitter that he and his wife were “devastated” by the news of Avant's death, calling her “one of our closest friends.”

“This is the saddest day in our lives,” he wrote.

Dalton reported from Los Angeles.

'I DIDN'T PULL THE TRIGGER': Alec Baldwin gives first in-studio interview following shooting - Toronto Sun

LOS ANGELES — Alec Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger of the gun that fired a live bullet and killed a cinematographer on the set of the movie “Rust,” according to an excerpt of an upcoming television interview that was released on Wednesday.

Baldwin, who was holding a gun he was told was safe when it went off, spoke in his first full interview about the Oct. 21 shooting in New Mexico.

“Well, the trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” the actor told ABC television journalist George Stephanopoulos, according to the excerpt of the interview, which is to be broadcast on Thursday.

“So you never pulled the trigger?” Stephanopoulos asked.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

“No, no, no. I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them. Never,” Baldwin replied.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was wounded in what Baldwin has previously called a tragic accident on the set of the Western movie he was making near Santa Fe.

Authorities in Santa Fe could not immediately be reached for comment on Baldwin’s statement on Wednesday.

No criminal charges have been filed. Investigators have been focusing their efforts on how live ammunition found its way onto the set.

Baldwin says in the ABC interview that he had no idea how a live bullet got onto the set.

The actor, best known for playing an egotistical TV network executive on the TV comedy series “30 Rock,” has kept a low profile since the accident at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.

Baldwin, who was the star and also a producer on the low-budget Western, “went through in detail what happened on the set that day,” Stephanopoulus said on Wednesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” show ahead of the broadcast.

“As you can imagine he’s devastated but he was also very candid, he was very forthcoming. He answered every question,” Stephanopoulos said.

Two crew members have filed civil lawsuits accusing Baldwin, the producers and others on the production of negligence and lax safety protocols. The producers have said they are conducting their own internal investigation.

Cameron Bailey appointed CEO of Toronto International Film Festival - CP24 Toronto's Breaking News

TORONTO -- Cameron Bailey has been appointed CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival.

In announcing the news, TIFF's board of directors cited their confidence in Bailey's ability to steer the non-profit organization through an ever-changing industry.

Bailey ascends to the top job after serving as co-head with Joana Vicente, who left her post to become CEO of the Sundance Institute on Oct. 31.

Bailey previously served as TIFF's artistic director under former CEO Piers Handling, and was co-director before that.

He began his career at TIFF in 1990 as a seasonal film programmer, and previously worked in the media as a film critic.

The news comes as TIFF also announces that Jeffrey Remedios, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Canada, has been named TIFF's new chair of the board. He replaces Jennifer Tory who has held the role since 2016.

Remedios touted Bailey's leadership in a release issued Tuesday, saying: "There is no one better suited to drive TIFF forward."

Bailey called it "both a joy and an enormous responsibility" to lead the cultural organization.

"I'm indebted to TIFF's founders and to each of TIFF's previous leaders for building an organization dedicated to making positive change in the world for filmgoers, filmmakers, and all the professionals who make movies matter," he said in a release.

In addition to running the September film festival, TIFF's endeavours include various events at TIFF Bell Lightbox, a downtown film hub with five cinemas, learning and entertainment facilities.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 30, 2021.
